Description

Shakespear is a remarkable combination of beautiful beaches, pristine native bush, pastureland and wildlife – a nature lover’s paradise.

Shakespear Regional Park is a nature park in the Auckland Region of New Zealand. It is located at the tip of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, and is named after the Shakespear family which bought the land in the 1880s from local Maori. (wikipedia)

There’s great swimming at Te Haruhi Beach, as well as snorkelling, rock fishing, diving, windsurfing, and kite boarding. On a wild day, you can watch the paragliders launching from the Army Bay cliffs behind the beach.

Bring your mountain bike too, as mountain bikers (and walkers) can tackle the Lookout Track (3km) for amazing 360-degree views of the Auckland skyline and Hauraki Gulf.

Covering most of the tip of the stunning Whangaparaoa Peninsula, jutting out into the Hauraki Gulf, the landscapes and views here make it one of Auckland’s most popular regional parks.

It is also an open sanctuary for threatened native wildlife and a great spot for bird watching. Shakespear’s sheltered beaches are family friendly and perfect for a range of water activities.
